K2 Winter: The SAVAGE MOUNTAIN CONTINUES – Mingma G

It is sad and at the same time funny to see the reactions of some climbers who just returned back without success. They are blaming Nepalese team saying Nepalese Sherpa might have cut the rope after their summit, proper information was not given, kept their plan secret etc.

Remember why K2 is called SAVAGE Mountain and why it remained unclimbed for 34 years after the first winter try in 1987/1988???

You know what, when Nepalese started on 12th and 13th January, most of the climbers at K2 Base Camp had guessed we would give a try to reach [the] Summit but nobody believed we would reach the Summit because there was a very short weather window and the route was not fixed above Camp3.

So the remaining climbers didn’t follow us and also they were not acclimatized to launch their summit.

Now those climbers who can’t digest our success and their failure are trying to shoot a gun using those beloved climbers who lost their lives there.

Almost all the climbers on K2 are happy for Nepal and [the] Nepalese and they are happy at least they gave a try. We are thankful to them and we admire their courage.

But there are few who still can’t digest our success. let’s check here:

1. We were 4 independent teams on K2 and every team was climbing on their own planning.

A team member can blame another member in[side] a team but one team can’t blame another independent team for being unsuccessful.

What I know is, if they were successful on 5th February then they won’t criticise despite the accident[s] and the missing [climbers]. They even won’t mention us for their success.

2. We are thankful to Apo Ali, Sajid and John for fixing rope till Camp1.

When we fixed rope from Camp1 to Summit, none of these climbers were there to help us in fixing or carrying equipment and now they are shamelessly speaking as if we were paid to fix the line [for them].

What I call them, parasite climbers.

3. Both Nepalese teams flew back from K2 Base Camp on 20th January but Sona was still there in Base Camp. Sona was one of the members who made it to the Summit on 16thJanuary and he stayed back in Base Camp till 9th February. Sona descended back to Base Camp on 17th January morning and the big team started summit push on 2nd February.

During these 16 days of Sona’s stay in Base Camp, these hater climbers got plenty of time to get information on rope[s] and [the] route conditions. Why didn’t they try to get information[s]? Why [are] they lying?

4.

They are jealous because we made a successful ascent and they couldn’t make it in spite of the fixed line all the way to the Summit.

5.

Two climbers said Sherpa[s] might have cut the rope[s]. Really???

They climbed as high as they could and returned back because of their own problem. They climbed on rope and they descended back on the rope which we fixed. Till the height they climbed, there was rope means the rope is all the way to the Summit if they had tried patiently checking good weather. There were several Sherpas in 7 Summit teams who were our friends and relatives of Sona and they were there to summit K2 on 5th February.

How anyone can think Nepalese would cut rope[s] knowing [that] our own people are going up there again. Does that make [any] sense?

A climber said they were threatened by Nepalese Sherpa[s] to cut the rope[s] if they followed us. Again, really???

Why has nobody written about it before going to the summit? Why is this coming only after their unsuccess? Is that for public attention or they are jealous of our historical success?

Also we reached The Summit at 4:43pm exactly and we started descending on torch light 200m below from the Summit with a fully exhausted body. A mistake could cost our lives.

It was getting colder and colder and we were trying to descend as fast as possible because the wind started, making our body more cold. In such a condition, how will a climber be able to cut [the] rope[s]?

6. Everyone on K2 this winter was aiming to be first and so was us. Everyone had their own planning and no one shared their plan with us.

We also kept our plans to ourselves like on any other sports however if anyone had come to us [and] asked us politely, we would of course share our ideas.

Nims selected his team members from best among best and I had the same. So we didn’t want to fail because of others.

More people in a team means more problems instead of help/solution in such harsh weather.

Previously the weather on 13th January and 15th January showed very good and 14th January with very high wind. 16th January was ok in the morning followed by high wind in the daytime and the bad weather starting on 17th January.

Our only chance was to make a summit on 15th January but the weather changed when we were in higher camps and it was already too late for others to follow us.

It was in winter and the weather on K2 changes unexpectedly from time to time. In beginning the route was only fixed till Camp3 and weather was not good for summit push.

So nobody believed we would reach the summit, we were also not sure about it. We took the risk and we got success. I will write more in my follow upstory later on.

Football World Cup is the most popular sport. The coach of the team shares his tactic and plan with his players, not with players from other teams to win the trophy. It was the same with us.

Few reputed news are covering such nonsense stories.

Sajid was the last person to leave K2 from the highest point. It was not a good time to interview Sajid Sadpara, son of Ali Sadpara and John’s team member but they took the interview and Sajid clearly denied all these rumors.

Still these news agencies are covering it to make these rumors sensational to sell their news.

If we check the Instagram and Facebook of the climbers on K2, everything is clear there.

We flew back from K2 Base Camp on 20th January and what happened on K2 afterwards is not known to us as well. But we were following the news.

I feel very sad to read the news of Atnas because I had a long chat with him on 19th January in our first meeting and he looked to be a very nice person. We were also praying for the safe return of Apo Ali, John and Pablo. I never met Pablo but I had climbed with Apo Ali and John together before. All of them will be in our prayers and we miss them. My sincere sympathy to their families. Sajid has announced the search and recovery of 3 missing climbers and I will provide all my support to him in this mission.

I will continue my K2 climbingstories from tomorrow onwards…

Thanks for all your support.

Israel’s entry ban on citizens ‘unparalleled in democratic world,’ watchdog says

The Israel Democracy Institute on Sunday challenged Israel’s coronavirus restrictions on entry to the country that have left thousands of Israelis stranded abroad, saying it marked an extreme erosion of rights that could infringe on citizens’ rights to vote in the upcoming elections.

The institute submitted an opinion paper to Deputy Attorney General Raz Nizri which said that the sweeping restrictions on Israeli citizens’ ability to return to the country from overseas are “extremely problematic from a constitutional perspective and are without parallel in the democratic world.”

The authors of the opinion, Prof. Yuval Shany, Prof. Mordechai Kremnitzer, Dr. Amir Fuchs, Dr. Guy Lurie, and Nadiv Mordechai, compiled a comparative study of democracies across the globe that found Israel’s restrictions to be the most severe.

Currently, all entry and exit to the country is banned, including for citizens, except for travelers whose entry has been approved by the government-appointed “Exceptions Committee.”

They noted Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Great Britain, New Zealand, Russia Sweden and the United States as countries with varied records on battling the coronavirus pandemic and various different restrictions for foreign travelers, but all allowing their own citizens entry into the country.

“In view of every person’s constitutional right to leave Israel and every citizen’s right to re-enter the country, a general prohibition on entry and exit is not in the spirit of the provisions of the Basic Law: Human Dignity and Liberty. There is a concern that the erosion of the rights affected is not proportionate, but rather extreme, even in view of the current health challenge,” the researchers wrote.

“This mechanism has been implemented following the State’s inability to effectively enforce a quarantine on those returning to Israel. This failure has led to the adoption of an approach that provides greater harm to the rights of citizens than quarantine and has left many Israelis as exiles abroad during a global health crisis,” they said.

Israel’s land and air gateways have been largely closed since January 25, with Ben Gurion Airport shuttered for all but a few special flights by Israeli airlines to bring back citizens stranded abroad.

Health officials are concerned that more contagious strains of the coronavirus could arrive in the country from abroad, as is the case with the so-called British mutation which now accounts for almost all new coronavirus infections in the country.

The authors of the IDI opinion said that “the extreme changes in policy — from one of a fully open airport, to a complete closure without warning, catching unawares citizens who traveled abroad lawfully, with the full expectation that they would be able to return, and without giving them a chance to prepare accordingly — creates intolerable human situations.”

“The State must find an answer that is epidemiologically sound and constitutionally proportionate and must permit citizens to return home without delay,” they said.

The opinion also stated that restrictions on entry by citizens and permanent residents at this time could infringe on the right to vote in the upcoming elections as Israelis must be present in the country in order to cast their ballot.

The opinion was submitted days after a television report last week claimed the vast majority of Israelis being approved to enter the country were ultra-Orthodox, while many secular people were being denied.

Opposition politicians lashed out at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the report, accusing him of allowing only potential right-wing voters to arrive in the country ahead of the March 23 elections.

Channel 12 said some 90 percent of those approved to come to Israel during the closure were Haredi, while many secular requests were being denied. The network asserted that many Haredim were flying in using fraudulent permits, and that some had secured their authorizations through ties to ultra-Orthodox politicians.

Benny Gantz, the defense and justice minister, warned Saturday he would not allow the continued closure of Ben Gurion Airport unless a Justice Ministry official takes part in the panel’s deliberations, and its criteria for approving or denying requests are made public.

Gantz also said he would demand that the government make immediate plans to allow any Israeli wishing to come to Israel to vote in the elections to do so.

National elections — the fourth in two years — were called after the power-sharing government of Likud and Blue and White failed to agree on a budget by a December 23 deadline.

The election, like the previous three votes, is largely seen as a referendum on Netanyahu’s rule amid his ongoing trial on corruption charges, as well as his government’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lawyers to sue WHO for ‘misleading world over COVID-19 outbreak’

A group of lawyers is preparing to sue the World Health Organization and some of its partners for allegedly misleading the world over the severity of the COVID-19 outbreak and the measures taken to control it, which they say have damaged livelihoods and caused tremendous harm to economies.

The move was announced by Dr. Reiner Fuellmich, one of four members of the German Coronavirus Investigative Committee that has been hearing international scientists’ and experts’ testimonies since July 10, 2020.

In a video released to his YouTube channel, Fuellmich accuses WHO Director Tedros Adhanom, Dr Christan Drosten, the head of virology at Berlin’s Charité Hospital, and Dr Lothar Wieler, the head of the RKI, the German counterpart of the U.S. Center for Disease Control, whom he claims knowingly misled governments across the world.

“This corona crisis, according to all we know today, must be renamed a corona scandal, and those responsible for it must be criminally prosecuted, and sued for civil damages,” he said.

“On a political level, everything must be done to make sure that no one will ever again, be in a position of such power as to be able to defraud humanity, or to attempt to manipulate us with their corrupt agendas.”

Fuellmich plans on filing a class-action suit in the United States.

“One: is there a corona pandemic, or is there only a PCR test pandemic, specifically, does a positive PCR test result mean that the person tested is infected with COVID-19, or does it mean absolutely nothing, in connection with the COVID-19 infection,” he said, unafraid to mention alleged corporate greed in his lawsuit.

“Two, do the so-called anti-corona measures, such as the lockdowns, facemasks, social distancing, and quarantine regulations serve to protect the world’s population from corona, or do they serve only to make people panic, so they believe without asking any questions, that their lives are in danger, so that in the end, the pharmaceutical and technology companies can generate huge profits from the sale of PCR tests, antigen and antibody tests and vaccines, as well as the harvesting of our genetic fingerprints.”

“Three, is it true that the German government was extensively lobbied, more so than any other government, by the chief protagonists of the so-called corona pandemic?” he questioned. “Germany is known as a particularly disciplined country and was therefore to become a role model for the rest of the world, for its strict, and therefore, successful adherence to the corona measures.”

Fuellmich deals with concerns over collateral damage caused by measures claimed to stop COVID-19, in addition to seeking answers about how dangerous the virus truly is, and whether a person whose PCR test has come back positive is actually infected by the disease.

“Based on the rules of criminal law, asserting false facts concerning the PCR tests or intentional misrepresentation, as conducted by Messrs. Drosten and Wieler and the WHO, this can only be interpreted as fraud,” he explained.

“Based on the rules of the civil tort law, this translates into intentional infliction of damage.”

He claimed that these people knew “the PCR tests cannot provide any information about infections, but asserted over and over, to the general public, that they can, with their counterparts all over the world repeating this.

“They all knew and accepted that based on their recommendations, the governments of the world would decide on lockdowns, the rules for social distancing, and the mandatory wearing of masks, the latter representing a serious health hazard as more and more independent studies and expert statements show.

“Under tort laws, all those harmed by these PCR test-induced lockdowns are entitled to full compensation for their losses,” he added.

“In particular, there is a duty to compensate – that is a duty to pay damages – to companies and self-employed persons as a result of the lockdown and other measures.

“In the meantime however, the anti-corona measures have caused and continue to cause such devastating damage to the world’s population’s health and its economy, that the crimes committed by Messrs. Drosten, Wieler, and the WHO, must be legally qualified as crimes against humanity, as defined in Section 7 of the International Criminal Code,” Fuellmich said.

Watch: Red Lights Out – RT Documentary

For many stressed-out Europeans, a brothel was the place to leave behind the sad reality, but the coronavirus epidemic has taken its toll. In Germany, the oldest profession was legalised more than a decade ago and has suffered the worst downfall in recent history.

Many women’s rights advocates insist the crisis only revealed the wide-scale poverty and lack of social support that’s been known about for a long time.

It looks like Weimar Germany 2021?

FDA approves Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine

Johnson & Johnson’s one-shot COVID-19 vaccine has been given formal approval by US regulators, making it the third jab available in the country.

The go-ahead was given a day after a committee of independent experts delivered their endorsement of the vaccine to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The approval is a boost for US vaccine efforts, which have been picking up speed after a sluggish rollout. About 47.2 million people have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Friday.

New Jersey-based Johnson & Johnson said 20 million doses would be delivered in the U.S. by the end of March.

The company plans to deliver 100 million doses during the first half of 2021.

The doses can be stored in a standard fridge, unlike the ultra-cold conditions required by the other two vaccines from Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech, both of which are two-shot regimes.

A global clinical trial showed the Johnson & Johnson vaccine was 66- percent effective at preventing various coronavirus variants. It was 80 percent effective at protecting against severe cases.

US firm photographed another highly sensitive nuclear site

The American company that provided satellite photos of the Dimona nuclear reactor last week has also photographed another classified security facility.

Last week, Planet Labs provided satellite photos of construction at the Shimon Peres Negev Nuclear Research Center to The Associated Press.

It now turns out that it took high-resolution photos of another secretive Israeli military facility at the same time.

The area it photographed, located west of Beit Shemesh, appears on ordinary Israeli maps as open space and on civilian flight maps as an off-limits area. But according to numerous foreign reports, this area is home to the Kanaf 2 Israel Air Force base.

The website of GlobalSecurity.org says that three squadrons of Jericho surface-to-surface missiles are stationed at this base.

It’s not clear who commissioned the photographs of this area or whether they are a prelude to another report about military activities attributed to Israel.

Disclosures about Israel’s nuclear and ballistic missile capabilities have appeared in foreign media on various occasions in the past, often against the background of American-Israeli tensions over arms control and supervision of nuclear activities. The new pictures of the Dimona reactor were published at a time when U.S. President Joe Biden seeks to reenter the nuclear agreement with Iran, over the opposition of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The satellite photos that AP published last Thursday show the construction of a spacious new complex at Dimona.

According to the agency’s report, it is one of the most extensive construction projects to be documented at the site in recent decades.

The construction site, located a few meters from the existing reactor, is about the size of a soccer field and several stories deep, the report said.

The purpose of the construction isn’t clear, the report continued, and Israel declined to respond to questions on the issue. But experts consulted by AP said the construction is probably connected to fears of nuclear radiation leaking from the reactor.

Just two kilometers from this site, the agency said, two concrete buildings that could be used to store nuclear waste were photographed.

Publication of these photos was made possible by a presidential order signed by Biden’s predecessor, Donald Trump, that allowed American companies to take high-resolution satellite pictures of Israel.

In 1997, Congress had passed a law barring American companies from taking satellite photos of Israel at a higher resolution than those available from foreign commercial sources.

The law, enacted at Israel’s request, is specific to Israel and is meant to protect its defense facilities. It is the reason why photos of Israel from Google Earth and similar commercial databases are at a lower resolution than those of other countries.

Back in 2012, the U.S. Commerce Department’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration allowed the resolution of satellite photos of Israel to be increased to 2.0, meaning every pixel represents two square meters.

But five years later, researchers asked the agency to increase the resolution again, saying a South Korean company was already taking higher-resolution photos.

Last summer, Trump signed the order allowing photos at a resolution of 0.4, meaning each pixel represents just 40 square centimeters. The photos taken by Planet Labs are at a resolution of 0.5, slightly below the maximum permitted level.

Israel stayed away from UAE arms fair ‘for fear Iran would target its delegates’

Israel canceled its participation in this week’s Abu Dhabi arms fair because of fears that its delegates would be targeted for assassination by Iran, a television report said.

The Israeli delegation was to have included the heads of Israel’s major defense companies, seeking lucrative contracts and underlining the newly normalized relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates.

The biennial International Defense Exhibition and Conference, or IDEX, long has been the largest defense showcase in the Middle East. This year’s event was the first time that Israel had been invited.

The Defense Ministry announced on February 15 that the Israeli delegation would not attend after all, however, citing coronavirus restrictions that have forced the closure of Ben Gurion Airport.

This was only a pretext, Channel 12 news reported Saturday night.

In fact, Israel canceled its participation because of fears that its delegates would be targeted by Iran — seeking to avenge a series of attacks attributed to Israel in which Iranian nuclear scientists have been killed and nuclear facilities sabotaged. In the most high-profile such incident recently, Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, the alleged father of Iran’s rogue nuclear weapons program, was killed outside Tehran in November in an attack widely attributed to Israel.

The TV report said the UAE authorities were told the true reason for the cancelation, and accepted it without rancor.

It said the decision to cancel was taken by “the security establishment,” and was not a source of dispute between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Benny Gantz.

The report added that Friday’s attack on an Israeli-owned cargo vessel in the Gulf of Oman is regarded in the Israeli security establishment as likely the work of Iran, and evidence of its no-holds-barred efforts for revenge against Israel. It is also thought to be an attempt to signal to US President Joe Biden that while it wants to return to the 2015 P5+1 nuclear deal, it seeks to do so “on its own terms.”

There was no confirmation of the TV report from the Defense Ministry.

Dozens of Israeli companies, including state-owned Israel Aerospace Industries and Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, had planned on sending delegations to the IDEX arms fair.

The Defense Ministry, which oversees weapons exports, said it sought permission to allow the delegation to travel, but a governmental committee that grants exemptions allowing people to fly denied the request.

Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport is closed to nearly all incoming and outgoing flights.

Arms deals worth billions of dollars are announced during the five-day event in Abu Dhabi, frequently attended by the UAE’s rulers and other world leaders.

Hundreds of military technology companies and contractors from around the world converge in the UAE’s capital to sell everything from armored vehicles to missiles and drones at the exhibition, which draws potential customers from the Middle East and North Africa.

Armenian crisis: President refuses to sack military chief, says PM Pashinyan’s order ‘Unconstitutional’

Pashinyan ordered the dismissal of the head of the General Staff, Onik Gasparyan, on Thursday, in response to what he called an attempted coup against him.

The order followed a joint statement by Armenian military commanders and two former presidents, Robert Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan, who called on the prime minister to swiftly resign.

Pashinyan has been under increasing pressure since November, after he signed an unpopular ceasefire deal with Azerbaijan, which ended the fighting in disputed Nagorno-Karabakh but saw parts of the region passing to Azeri control.

Pashinyan has acknowledged that the Moscow-brokered deal, which saw Russian peacekeepers deployed to the disputed region, saved the ethnic Armenian troops from complete and utter defeat.

However, Pashinyan’s government has also been accused of mishandling defense policy and thus causing the military disaster in the first place.

The tension between Pashinyan and the military reached boiling point this week after he claimed that Russian-made Iskander missiles – which Moscow says weren’t used in Nagorno Karabakh – had malfunctioned during the conflict. Gasparyan’s deputy publicly rebuked the prime minister’s claim and was then fired. The General Staff’s response, calling on Pashinyan to resign, then placed Gasparyan himself in the crosshairs.

Sarkissian on Saturday returned the draft law on sacking the head of the general staff to Pashinyan and outlined his objections to it. The motion by the embattled prime minister “contradicts the constitution at its core,” Sarkissian’s office pointed out. The statement added that the president doesn’t side with any political power and only makes decisions based on Armenia’s national interests.

If Pashinyan doesn’t agree with the president’s objections, the law allows him to forward the order to the president once again.

In this case, Sarkissian would have to respond by either signing it or taking the issue to the Constitutional Court. If he does nothing, the order will go into force automatically.

The news that the embattled PM’s order hadn’t been approved was announced in front of several thousand anti-Pashinyan demonstrators who gathered in Yerevan on Saturday.

The crowd greeted the president’s decision with a round of applause. The people then marched through the center of the city, with the police making no attempts to stop them.

Opposition activists have been taking to the streets since Thursday, erecting barricades and setting up an encampment in the capital.

They insist that the PM must go and that this demand is non-negotiable. Supporters of Pashinyan have, in turn, staged counter-protests in Yerevan.

The Overcast on K2 Winter

The extreme sport of high altitude mountaineering despite its characteristic of testing human endurance to extremities has its peculiar appetite for controversies. Like all sports, it breeds its own intense competition and sometimes jealousies. I will narrate two incidents.

Despite the discovery of body and funeral of Günther Messner in 2005, some 35 years after his disappearance on Nanga Parbat, critics still blame his younger brother Reinhold Messner for abandoning him for his own summit glory.

I met Reinhold Messner in a camp on Abruzzi Glacier in 1982. He told me exactly what was ultimately revealed from 2000-2005.

Reinhold was vindicated by facts but does that stop conspiracy theorists from spinning new yarns?

Same year, the Sardar of my expedition to Gashebrum 1 (led by Sylvain Sudain) was Chacha Muhammad Hussain. He with Amir Mehdi in 1953 had carried the Austrian mountaineer Hermann Buhl on their backs to the base camp from slopes of Nanga Parbat. Even though I saw Chacha Muhammad Hussain’s porter book pasted with him carrying Buhl, I see no photo in any book. Despite a first this expedition was marred by controversies.

Hussain and Amir Mehdi were hired again by Italians for the first K2 summit in 1954. Italians Achille Compagnoni and Lino Lacedelli reached the summit of K2 denying Amir Mehdi and Walter Bonatti the opportunity.

To protect Campagnoni’s legacy, Italians made fall guys out of Amir Mehdi (maimed for life) and Walter Bonatti for over fifty years. In 2004, reminiscences by Lacedelli prompted an investigation that resulted in formal recognition of Mehdi and Bonatti in K2’s first conquest; but not an apology.

The first winter ascent of K2 and the tragedy of John Snorri, Ali Sadpara and Juan Pablo Mohr is no exception and shall remain a subject of intense debate for years to come.

Events around the winter expeditions to K2 in 2020-21 are being marred by controversies targeting the Nepalis and also suggesting that Sajid Sadpara the only surviving member is not telling the truth.

Eager theorist are piecing together information from different climbers (some now dead) to build a mystery around the events, some even questioning if the Nepalese summited at all?

The leading exponent is Tomaz Rotar from Slovenia who claims to be the only credible eyewitness other than Sajid Sadpara (not credible) of the fateful events ahead of Camp 4 on 6 February 2021.

In his dispatch in Slovenian language read by me in Urdu, English and French translations, he depicts Sajid as the last straggler towards Camp 4. He asserts that the nasty crevasse ahead of Camp 4 was never surmountable and most likely, climbers fell to death into it.

This is why he insists that it is time to tell the truth meaning that Sajid is hiding something. Taking a hint from him, others suggest they drifted towards the Cesen re-entrat to nibble up to bottle neck and perished.

Some of his assertions are confusing.

He says, “However, John Snorri saved my life twice. Telling the truth is the least I owe him in return”.

Having declared so, he ignored his moral and ethical responsibility when he abandoned John Snorri at the crevasse and is now in an act of contrition by calling Sajid Sadpara a liar, a hallucinating individual and someone he refused to share his regulator with and the Nepalese daemons who never left a ladder behind he was looking for.

Again, why did he fail to convince Ali Sadpara and Juan Pablo Mohar who also flew into eternity with John Snorri? Very self-serving and selfish litany of betrayals.

A small summit conference was the least he could have done; maybe a few minutes delay at Camp 4. After all, his oxygen was good and he had no intentions but to stop at the base camp which he did after a tea break in camp 3.

The reasons for not pushing the summit with Nepalese are straight forward.

John Snorri’s team was at Camp 2 and needed at least a night to sleep at Camp 3, ideally climb up to camp 4 and retreat to camp 3 for rest and then begin a summit push in the late hours.

This meant summit on 17 January. Logically, they were in no position to join Nepalese.

Recall, when Mingma G’s team was fixing ropes to Camp 4 on 15 January, having completed the task, they retreated back to Camp 3 for rest and recuperation.

Going straight from Camp 2 to the summit is superhuman, which John Snorri and his team avoided on 14 January only to be forced into by events on 4-5 January. Given the jumbling at Camp3, a very tragic risk indeed?

Here is the sequence of events.

On 3 February, John Snorri’s team reached Camp 2 from base camp and slept there.

On 4 February, his team joined the long que of climbers (not in control of Dawa Sherpa and Arnold Coster), some going up making solo deals with Sherpas and others coming down due to cold, a typical circus.

John Snorri team reached main camp 3 after collecting oxygen (placed by Sajid on 14 January) from Japanese Camp 3. Muhammad Ali Sadpara reached main Camp 3 at 6 PM while John Snorri and Sajid Sadpara reached around 8 PM.

They voluntarily on humanitarian grounds shared their only tent with three climbers from SST. There was no recuperation and much needed sleep that night.

They set off again from Camp 3 the same night; John Snorri at 11:30 PM, Sajid Sadpara at 12 midnight and Muhammad Ali Sadpara at 2 AM 5 February. Sajid insists they followed the Nepalese route without any confusion till the team met at Camp 4 and the crevasse ahead of it. There was no drifting towards the Cesen re-entrat as suggested by Angela Benavides.

Barring John Sonori’s team the long line of climbers including Tomaz Rotar and Juan Pablo Mohr were attempting at their own risk accompanied by porters they had made deals with. Juan Pablo Mohr remained a loner after his climbing partner Tamara Lunger turned back.

Tomaz Rotar also blames the SST for the lack of supplies and failure in information sharing.

To remind readers, he was part of SST and obliged to obey orders of Dawa Sherpa and Arnold Coster. Yet he admits to the briefing by both on 1 February but citing no information on any particular obstacle, such as the crevasse. Even if Mingma G shared no information, Sona Sherpa from SST also made it to the summit on 16 January and was obliged to share information with his team.

Lastly, if he was indeed member of SST team, why was he making deals for the summit with Temba Sherpa?

Sajid maintains they were briefed by the Nepalese including the new route to Camp 4 and the crevasse ahead of it.

This reminds me about the observation of Kraig Becker,

“There are also a growing number of individuals who have no business being on the mountain and threaten to turn the entire affair into a three-ring circus. Worse yet, their lack of experience could also lead to disaster on a mountain that is already known as one of the most deadly in the world. … That means that most climbers have little to no winter climbing experience whatsoever, yet they are attempting the hardest winter climb of them all. This is largely due to Seven Summits bringing a sizable commercial team, which consists of a substantial number of people who have no business being on K2 under the best of conditions, let alone in winter.”

After discussions with mountaineers who have climbed and endured K2, a common conclusion is that most teams were short of experienced hardy climbers needed to tackle a winter ascent of K2.

The only experienced person at base camp was Muhammad Ali Sadpara with his winter ascent of Nanga Parbat.

Mingma’s group of 3 was too small to deal with K2 in winter. Cleverly, he was quick to form an all Nepalese team with assistance from Dawa Sherpa of SST and Nirmal Purja bringing the total to 10.

It was also Mingma G who set the pitch from camp 3 onwards.

It was the responsibility of Dawa Sherpa the leader of SST and his deputy Arnold Coster to prevent such a polarisation from taking place. They must clarify why many SST climbers were abandoned by an all Nepal Team who pushed ahead on 15 January.

Seen in this context, John Snorri’s team may have decided to wait out the all Napalese summit and later follow the same route. Had SST exerted better command and control, discipline on free loaders and ensured logistics, a second ascent of K2 was possible in the window of 2-5 February as planned by the two leaders of SST. This turned out to be John Snorri’s plan too.

In Tomaz Rotars own words, “It consisted of going to Camp 1 on February 2, Camp 2 on February 3. Then on February 4, we were to proceed to Camp 3, rest, then continuing to the summit with no Camp 4. We had to somehow manage to top out and return, hopefully back to Camp 2, as early as possible on February 5, because the winds would increase progressively that day”.

Why this plan was not followed is for SST to answer.

Certainly, it ruined the bid of John Snorri’s team to summit K2 in winter, causing three deaths around the summit and one below Camp 3.

It is written in scriptures that some men are saved by their acts alone.

Russian trials find Sputnik V performs “Very Well” against virus variants

A potential breakthrough regarding Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine and its ability to provide immunity in response to the worrisome new mutations of coronavirus popping up around the globe is being reported in international press on Saturday, which is in stark contrast to the prior typically negative coverage of Russia’s vaccine rollout.

“A Russian trial testing the effectiveness of revaccination with the Sputnik V shot to protect against new mutations of the coronavirus is producing strong results, researchers said on Saturday,” Reuters reports.

Putin last month ordered a review due by mid-March of the Russian-made vaccine’s ability to protect against the new mutations, found lately in various countries across Western Europe and as far away as South Africa, as well as New York and California.

“(A) recent study carried out by the Gamaleya Centre in Russia showed that revaccination with Sputnik V vaccine is working very well against new coronavirus mutations, including the UK and South African strains of coronavirus,” announced Denis Logunov, a deputy director of the center that developed the Russian vaccine.

“We believe that vector-based vaccines are actually better for future revaccinations than vaccines based on other platforms,” Logunov added.

While research and trial results of the new review have not been made available yet, these latest headlines on the ‘hopefulness’ of Sputnik V’s effectiveness regarding the new strains stand in stark contrast to the highly negative commentary from Western officials which marked much of the end of last year.

For example just last week…

Meanwhile in the United States…

The prime US vaccines appear to be far behind where Russian researchers are claiming to be.

According to The Wall Street Journal, “Both the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines appeared to generate a weaker immune response to the strain identified in South Africa, as did other shots in the advanced stages of development.”

“The companies said Thursday they have started the small study to see whether a third dose of their authorized COVID-19 vaccine would increase its effectiveness against new variants, such as the strain first identified in South Africa,” the report adds.

Watch: K2 Winter. Going through icefall below Advance Base Camp. Video after our summit – Migma G

These days I am throughly enjoying the misleading news regarding our K2 ascent. There are some climbers and news who still can’t digest our Historical ascent.

They have questioned on Nepalese team which I felt insult to my nation.

I should at least answer them in their way otherwise they will be talking more.

Tomorrow I will answer to those haters and then we continue our true K2 stories from Monday.

Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla publicly admits Israel is the ‘World’s Lab’

If Israelis are confused by the fact that their government treats them like laboratory pets, if they wonder why their freedom to travel, to socialise or even earn a living have evaporated, Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla produced a genuine answer yesterday.

In an interview on NBC Bourla said:

“I believe Israel has become the world’s lab right now because they are using only our vaccine at this state and they have vaccinated a very big part of their population, so we can study both economy and health indices.”

I have no issue with medical experiments involving humans if the participants are fully aware of all possible circumstances and considerations involved in their consent. This didn’t happen in Israel.

By means of ‘green passports,’ the government practically threatens to penalise anyone reluctant to participate in a ‘lab’ experiment for a giant pharmaceutical company with a very problematic record.

The results of this Pfizer-Israeli experiment aren’t necessarily encouraging.

Though it may be possible, as some studies suggest, that most vaccinated people have at least short-term protection from COVID-19, no one can deny the astonishing fact that in just 8 weeks of mass vaccination the total number of COVID-19 deaths in the Jewish State almost doubled from the number accumulated in the prior ten months.

Since Israel morphed into a nation of Guinea pigs, a virus that used to prey on the elderly and those with severe health issues has now changed its nature completely.

After just 2 months of a ‘successful’ mass vaccination campaign, 76% of new COVID-19 cases are under 39. Only 5.5% are over 60. 40% of critical patients are under 60.

The country has also detected a sharp rise in COVID-19 cases amongst pregnant women, with more than a few in critical condition.

In the last few weeks, new-born COVID-19 cases saw a large 1300% spike (from 400 cases in under two-year-olds on November 20 to 5,800 in February 2021).

The evidence collected in Israel points at a close correlation between mass vaccination, cases and deaths.

This correlation points at the possibility that it is the vaccinated who actually spread the virus or even a range of mutants that are responsible for the radical shift in symptoms above.

When CEO Bourla was asked by NBC whether one could infect others after receiving two doses of the vaccine, Bourla admitted:

“It is something that needs to be confirmed, and the real-world data that we are getting from Israel and other studies will help us understand this better.”

If CEO Bourla isn’t sure whether his ‘vaccine’ prevents the spreading of the disease, why is he selling it around the world? Why should any government allow this substance being used until all necessary precautions have been taken? Furthermore, in the light of the emerging concern that the vaccinated can spread the disease (which CEO Bourla doesn’t deny), what is the meaning of the ‘green passport’? I guess that such a document could be easily replaced by a ‘gullible certificate’ awarded to those who were foolish enough to turn themselves in.

But Bourla doesn’t have to wait much longer for the ‘results’ from his ‘lab.’ I can provide him with the most relevant numbers assuming that either he or anyone else in Pfizer can read basic graphs.

Every country that fell into the mass-vaccination trap has seen a similar unprecedented spike in ‘cases’ and death.

The following collection graphs point at the undeniable correlation between mass vaccination and an exponential surge in COVID-19 ‘cases’ and deaths.

The spike in ‘cases” is often detected just 2-3 days after the launch of the mass vaccination campaign.

At the time Israel vaccinated itself, it was witnessing a sharp exponential rise in morbidity and death.

Palestine, literally the same land, saw its number of ‘cases’ and deaths plummeting.

Bourla and PM Netanyahu should make an intellectual effort and explain to us how it’s possible that in Gaza, an open-air prison and one of the most densely populated pieces of land on this planet, the numbers of COVID-19 ‘cases’ are minimal and without a ‘vaccine.’

But Palestine is not alone, as the situation in Jordan is similar.

While Israel saw its COVID-19 death figures breaking through the roof, Jordan’s COVID-19 deaths from mid-November onwards look like a slippery slope.

Britain went through a similar, if not identical, tragic experience. It launched a mass vaccination campaign on 7 December just to see its numbers of COVID-19 ‘cases’ and deaths rising like never before.

At the time, Britain saw its NHS crumbling, while the kingdom’s neighbours that were slow to make a decision on vaccination saw their COVID-19 numbers dropping rapidly.

I am obviously not the only one who sees that something went dramatically wrong in Israel. A group of dissenting researchers who looked into the numbers involved with the current Pfizer Israeli experiment published a detailed study two week ago.

“We conclude” they wrote, “that the Pfizer vaccines, for the elderly, killed during the 5-week vaccination period about 40 times more people than the disease itself would have killed, and about 260 times more people than the disease among the younger age class.”

Based on the Pfizer/Israeli ‘laboratory’ experiment, I drew the following sarcastic conclusion:

If you catch coronavirus you may die, but if you follow the Pfizer path, not only do you have a 95% chance to survive on top of the 99.98% provided by COVID-19, you may also kill some other people on the way.

– Sinopharm, China, vaccinul Vero, virus inactivat;

– Sinovac, China, virus inactivat, căzut în desuetudine datorită eficienței reduse, sub 50%;

– Bharat Biotech, India, virus întreg inactivat, avizat și utilizat pe scară largă în India, de curand Brazilia a comandat 20 milioane de doze;

– EpiVacCorona, Rusia, folosește o înlănțuire de proteine denumite peptide, care sunt obținute sintetic, copii exacte ale celor virale;

New Zealand PM Ardern plunges Auckland into 2nd LOCKDOWN in a month after new COVID-19 “case” detected

A seven-day lockdown will begin in Auckland from 6am local time on Sunday, while the rest of New Zealand will be placed into Level-2 restrictions, which limit public gatherings, Ardern said on Saturday, following “a community transmission” of SARS-CoV-2 resulting in a COVIDd-19 case of unknown origin.

The new COVID-19 patient presented at a GP for a test after which they went to the gym, which Ardern said was “frustrating.”

The patient developed symptoms on Tuesday, was tested on Friday and received their results on Saturday morning. The patient had been working part-time at an airport in the city the entire time.

Ardern stressed that there was “cause for concern” as the patient had likely been infectious for a week but had not been self-isolating, instead visiting a number of “well-populated sites.”

As a result, public venues will be shuttered and gatherings outside of bubbles will be temporarily suspended, while all sporting events during the mini-lockdown period will be canceled.

In the meantime, Aucklanders have been asked to work from home and to keep their children away from school until the snap lockdown ends.

A temporary border will be erected around Auckland and workers will be required to present evidence of travel exemptions in order to enter or leave the city.

Under Level-2 restrictions for the rest of New Zealand, people may still go to work, children can continue to go to school and gatherings are limited to 100 people.

The move follows another snap lockdown in mid-February that lasted for three days, after a family of three tested positive for the more virulent UK variant of the 2019 coronavirus.

World Economic Forum shouted down on Twitter for suggesting COVID-19 lockdowns ‘improved cities all over the world’

A video accompanying the Friday tweet by the WEF shows images of deserted streets, grounded airliners and idle factories, then notes record declines in air pollution and a drop in carbon emissions. It later shows busy, smog-choked highways and notes that “the drop won’t slow climate change unless we lock in emissions cuts.”

The tone-deaf tweet – coming amid millions of COVID-19 deaths and countless lives and businesses being destroyed by lockdowns – was quickly ratioed by Twitter users.

The WEF’s comments and linked article about the historic quietness brought on by lockdowns leading to better detection of small earthquakes were lost on most observers, who focused instead on the group’s apparent affection for a dystopian, depopulated world.

Podcast host Dave Rubin made the WEF’s tweet an answer to a question: “Siri, does evil really exist, and if so, can you show me in video form?”

UK professional wrestler Jemma Palmer pointed out the video’s anti-human tone. “So humans having a life is bad for the planet, but not having a life is bad for humans,” she said. “I’m all for doing less to the planet, but not at the expense of not living.”

UK radio host Julia Hartley-Brewer called the WEF’s messaging “genuinely scary” and said it suggested that “human beings are the problem.”

She added, “The WEF are absolutely stark staring insane if they think lockdowns are ‘quietly improving’ our cities.”

Historian Roger Moorhouse chalked the post up to “anthropophobia” – fear of humans.

Canadian taxpayer-advocacy activist Kris Sims said the WEF is “reveling in a year’s worth of human misery. This open misanthropy is very illuminating if nothing else. My planet includes happy, busy, healthy, prosperous humans.”

Irish author Melanie Murphy agreed, saying, “Yeah, it was so quiet I could actually hear all the devastation. Nothing to celebrate about a beehive without any bees.”

The WEF became a lightning rod for controversy in the past year as the elitist group’s founder, Klaus Schwab, seized on the COVID-19 pandemic as a “narrow window of opportunity to reflect, reimagine and reset our world.”

Schwab advocates a “reset of our economic and social foundations,” which would involve more globalized governments, building greener infrastructure and reforming capitalism in pursuit of more “equitable outcomes.”

Politicians dismissed concerns over the Great Reset, and the New York Times called it a “baseless conspiracy theory.”

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was among the politicians who called the Great Reset a “conspiracy theory,” after he was shown on video speaking of the pandemic as an opportunity to accelerate a “reset” of economic systems.

Conspiracy theorists, however, were back at it on Friday, suggesting that the lockdowns were just a table-setter for shutting down economies in the name of fighting climate change.

“Isn’t it lovely to see all these quiet, dead cities, closed factories and grounded aircraft,” lawyer Francis Hoar said.

“Take this as a warning that if lockdowns are accepted in any circumstance, they will be imposed for climate reasons before long. Lockdowns should be prohibited in any circumstances.”

“The trapped Cat” and the acquisition of nuclear weapons

There is no doubt among many observers of Gulf affairs, including myself, that the Iranian mullahs are striving with all power to possess military nuclear capabilities, and that everything that has happened since the Khomeini revolution in 1979 until now in terms of “seeking understanding” with the West regarding the ceiling of Iranian nuclear ambitions is nothing but a play aimed at gaining more time and accumulating nuclear technological knowledge, in order to elude with achieving the moment of manufacturing the first nuclear weapon and surprising the world with an Iranian nuclear test.

My conviction in this regard is based on an in-depth understanding of the revolutionary political thought from which the mullahs base their behavior and management of the crises that besiege them one after the other. It is a thought based on the alternation between pushing and pulling and on resorting to “political taqilla”, which constitutes a basic axis of the mullahs’ behavior and an important entry point to identify its roots, backgrounds and motives.

In this context, I can read what is going on about the fatwa of the Iranian Supreme Leader “prohibiting” his country from possessing a nuclear bomb, and I consider that relying on this fatwa in affirming that the mullahs do not seek the “bomb” represents submission to the Iranian propaganda machine, because it cannot be convincing while Iran’s nuclear ambitions represent the main reason for the crises of the mullahs’ regime and the ongoing clash with the West!

I will not dive into the analysis or summon evidence and analytical proofs in support of my point of view.

Rather, I will be contented with an important statement made by Iranian Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alawi recently, in which he said that the continuous Western pressure could push Tehran to defend itself like a “trapped cat” and seek to possess nuclear weapons!

Some may say that this statement comes in the context of the mullahs’ maneuvers and the threat to possess a nuclear weapon to push the administration of the new American president, Joe Biden, to adopt a flexible and less severe stance than it has announced since it came to power on the twentieth of last January, and this is apparently true. But the mullahs’ pressures do not usually go away from lines that have been carefully calculated, and the regime cannot fall into the trap of threatening to possess a nuclear weapon and so easily donating free recognition, the price of which can be too expensive.

The Iranian minister realizes when he hinted at the idea of the “trapped cat” that the Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei issued a fatwa prohibiting the development or use of nuclear weapons nearly two decades ago.

Therefore, he did not dare to talk about the possibility of overcoming this position unless he got a green light from the same guide on hinting at the possibility of bypassing the “fatwa”, whether the reason is merely a threat – and I doubt that – or establishing a new strategic point that forms the basis for any planned negotiation rounds between Iran and the major powers.

I refer in this regard to the text of the Iranian minister’s statement, specifically as he said on official television “The supreme leader clearly stated in his fatwa that nuclear weapons contradict Sharia and that the Islamic Republic considers them religiously forbidden and does not seek to possess them,” but added,

“But a traped cat can act contrary to what he does when he is free, and if (Western countries) push Iran in that direction, it will not be Iran’s fault”, meaning that here he refers to al-Qaeda and also refers to cases that are allowed to be overlooked, and seeks to find a justification or cover for the mullahs’ behavior and their pursuit of a nuclear weapon by consolidating the current dispute over the nuclear agreement and keeping it up, until getting away with whatever they want!

We can understand some of the motives for this surprising statement through the frequent international reports about the mullahs’ approach to reaching the ceiling of uranium enrichment that would allow them to move to making a bomb. Although there are those who question the veracity of these reports, the reality that cannot be questioned is this passion and unbridled desire for hegemony and strategic expansion that overshadows the behavior of the Iranian regime, and is even considered the first driver of its regional policies, and there is a forced confusion between this desire and the mullahs’ pursuit of unconventional military capabilities in order to build what can be described as a balance of terror with those they consider as enemies.

And here it can be said that the mullahs are racing against time to possess a deterrent ability that prevents a military strike that inevitably opens the door to the collapse or fall of the regime, and these are all facts that cannot be denied, and add to the assertion that the Iranian minister’s statement is not a slip of the tongue or a threat, it is rather a direct disclosure of the implications of the issuance, and we must not forget here that the speaker is the Minister of Intelligence, one of the closest figures, by virtue of his position at least – from the Supreme Leader, and he is also the holder of the keys to the secrets of the Iranian theocracy, so his statement must be taken very seriously.

The conclusion is that the “trapped cat” has become, in light of the existing sanctions, more convinced, willing and eager to possess a nuclear weapon, and that all efforts aimed at postponing its attempts in this regard do not achieve sustainable regional and global stability, but are merely pain relievers that will cause sleeplessness later.

The mission of the Biden administration should not stop at the point of delay, but rather it must include effective and lasting obstacles and restrictions that end the nuclear aspirations and dreams of the mullahs, and truly guarantee the Middle East security and stability.
