Commissioned by President al-Assad… Defense Minister tours sites damaged by devastating earthquake in Aleppo

Tasked by President Bashar al-Assad, the Minister of Defense, General Ali Mahmoud Abbas, toured a number of sites damaged by the devastating earthquake that hit the city of Aleppo.

General Abbas was briefed on the rescue work and the removal of rubble in a number of the city’s neighborhoods, which are carried out with the participation of all governmental and private agencies in the governorate along with the Syrian Arab Army units.

  • Abbas listened to many people whose homes were damaged, and instructed those concerned to continue responding to the emergency situation, in coordination with the competent authorities, local communities and field teams to assess damages and meet citizens’ needs, as an implementation of President Bashar al-Assad’s directives.

Armenian Prime Minister in telephone call with President al-Assad: We are ready to offer assistance to Syria.

President Bashar al-Assad on Tuesday received a telephone call from Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan who expressed his country’s sorrow over the devastating earthquake that his Syria and the huge losses it has left.

  • Pashinyan conveyed to the President the Armenian government and people’s condolence and their solidarity with the Syrian people, showing readiness to offer help and support for the Syrian government’s efforts in the relief and rescue operations.

President al-Assad, in turn, thanked Mr. Pashinyan for the support of Armenia to the Syrian people that reflect the deep and strong relations which bind the Syrian and Armenian. peoples.

The Syrian Trust for Development stated Tuesday the arrival of the first batch of relief and medical assistance dispatched by Saudi German Hospital Dubai.

The Trust declared on its Facebook account that its teams will directly deliver the first batch of medical assistance- including medicines and first-aid kits- to the national hospital in Jableh to help in the rescue operations.

The Trust extended its thanks and appreciation to all of whom contributed to providing assistance inside or outside the country since the launching of the national donation campaign for the victims of the earthquake, affirming that all the concerned parties –public and private ,along with Civil Defense rescue teams have been working around the clock since the start of humanitarian response operations.

Head of the Czechoslovakian Institute of International Relations, Jaromir Schlapata, called on the international community to unite and remove the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria as soon as possible and to provide the necessary aid in response to the devastating earthquake with no politicization.

Moreover, Schlapata strongly condemned the inaction by the International Community and international organizations, namely the humanitarian to fulfill its legal, moral and humanitarian duty towards the Syrian people having been hit by the earthquake.

Schlapata conveyed his heartfelt condolences to Syria’s leadership and people over the victims of the earthquake.

  • “Syria has been at the forefront to offer aid to countries and peoples in crises without politicization, opening its borders and providing shelter, food and medication free of charge,” Schlapata stated.

On the other hand, Schlapata added that the unjust unilateral coercive measures and the illegitimate Western embargo against Syria are the major obstruction on the scope of the work to address the earthquake’s consequences.

Hence, Schlapata affirmed his confidence in the Syrian people to overcome this catastrophe.
