Gazprom has the right to completely terminate gas supplies to Moldova in case of breaching payment commitments by October 20 and rescind the contract due to a gross violation of timeframe to enter into an agreement to settle the legacy debt of Moldovagaz, the Russian gas holding said on Tuesday.
- “Gazprom reserves all rights, including the right to completely halt supplies in case of breach of the gas payment obligation by October 20, 2022, and the right to cancel the contract at any time due to the gross violation of timeframe to conclude the agreement for settlement of the legacy debt of Moldovagaz. Further on, any requests of the Moldovan side anticipating changes in contract terms will be formalized only as appropriate addenda to the contract,” Gazprom said.
Moldovagaz repeatedly violated terms of the contract as regards due dates of gas payments in 2022 and approached Gazprom many times for softening of contractual commitments as regards the volume of supplies, Gazprom noted.
- The Russian holding always showed understanding of Moldovan requests, affirming its focus on long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation, and regularly met these requests.
Gazprom has the opportunity to supply only 5.7 mln cubic meters of gas per day to Moldova in October.
