Iran: Jan. 10 – Sharif University students grieve at deaths of classmates in air disaster

Iran Civil Aviation Organization said on Wednesday that 147 passengers on board of the crashed Boeing 737 plane were Iranians (some of them with dual-citizenship).

Sharif University of Technology‎ is a public research university in Tehran, Iran and is widely considered to be the nation’s leading institution for engineering and physical science disciplines. The international campus of the university is located in Kish Island, Persian Gulf.

The students who initiated the protests yesterday belong to the same university.

Note: Kish  is a 91.5-square-kilometre (35.3 sq mi) resort island in Bandar Lengeh County, Hormozgān Province off the southern coast of Iran in the Persian Gulf. Owing to its free trade zone status, the island is touted as a consumer’s paradise, with numerous malls, shopping centres, tourist attractions, and resort hotels.
