Israel: Higher education institutions to reopen on Sunday

Israel’s higher education institutions and schools will be reopened on Sunday, the government confirmed on Thursday.

The facilities will be permitted to reopen provided they adhere to the tight guidelines of the Ministry of Health.

These include a requirement to wear face masks, adherence to social distancing rules and all gatherings to be limited to a maximum of 50 people in one space.

In addition, it was decided to permit youth movements to resume their activity starting this weekend. Religious seminaries and non-formal education institutions, excluding summer camps, are also set to reopen.

Universities and colleges will be allowed to resume in-person lectures and in-class exams starting Sunday.

Schools in so-called “red zones,” where the rate of spread of coronavirus has been higher than average, will also resume full activities on Sunday.
