The Russian government says it will close all its borders to foreign citizens this week, with the exception of permanent residents, because of the coronavirus.

The measure is announced in a statement from PM Mikhail Mishustin.

He says that the measure, due to come into effect at midnight (local time) and run until May 1, is aimed at protecting public health in Russia.
