Three quarters of Dem voters don’t want Biden in 2024

A new poll found that 75 percent of Democratic and left leaning voters did not want the party to field President Joe Biden as their candidate in the 2024 election.

The CNN poll found a sharp decrease in the numbers from earlier in the year.

  • The poll was conducted as Biden’s approval rating continued to plummet as Americans vented their dissatisfaction with the state of the economy and reacted to continued high inflation and a slippage in consumer confidence for the third month in a row.

According to the poll, 24 percent of Democratic voters said they wanted a different candidate because they worried Biden would not be able to win in 2024 versus only six percent in a poll conducted at the beginning of the year.

Thirty-two percent said they didn’t want Biden to be reelected, double from a similar poll released in February.

  • Only a quarter of respondents felt that Biden should be the nominee, a significant decrease from 45 percent recorded in February.

In February, 51 percent of Democratic voters polled said they wanted someone other than Biden, but the figure has no increased to three quarters, a major jump.

  • Only 18 percent of Democratic voters under 45 want Biden to be the 2024 nominee.

The poll also found that a majority of Republican voters do not want former President Donald Trump as their party’s candidate in 2024, with 55 percent saying they want anyone but Trump to run, up slightly from 49 percent in February.
