UPDATE – Israel’s Beresheet Spacecraft Crashes Into Moon During Landing Attempt

The little Beresheet couldn’t make it, crashing into the gray dirt around 3:25 p.m. EDT (1925 GMT). Mission control lost communications with the spacecraft when it was about 489 feet (149 meters) above the Moon’s surface.

Seems to have failed to bring the module to a vertical position on landing sequence and simultaneously stabilize it.

Beresheet’s main engine stopped working around 10 kilometers from the surface, with the vehicle crashing into the Moon at a speed of over 134 meters per second.
