The virologist explained that these countries have a gigantic resource base for the virus, which will be able to reproduce freely, since only in China alone there are about 1.5 billion “virtually not ill” inhabitants.

“Hypothetically, such a country could become a new round in strain formation,” said Volchkov, quoted by Izvestia .

According to him, in other regions of the world, the resource base is no longer enough for the emergence and spread of new strains, since people there have either already had this disease or have been vaccinated.

“In general, the emergence of a new super strain is unlikely, but if it happens, then in those very regions with zero tolerance,” the expert concluded.
