International law prohibits the killing of war correspondents, but, according to reporter Evgeny Poddubny, this principle is no longer respected. He reports that blue ‘press’ vests became the SBU’s priority target.

“Wearing a blue vest to stand out is utterly useless. It doesn’t affect our job in any way. Blue vests draw too much attention at the front. It draws enemy fire far too often,” Poddubny reveals.
