As follows from the video of the flight, filmed from the cockpit of the Tu-160, British fighters, moving in parallel courses, came close to the aircraft of the Aerospace Forces. At some point, the distance did not exceed several tens of meters.

As the department clarified, “the fighter escort was provided by the crews of the MiG-31 aircraft of the Air Force and Air Defense Association of the Northern Fleet.”

The video shows that the Russian fighter-interceptors were armed with R-33 air-to-air missiles.

The flight duration was about 15 hours. Long-range aviation crews performed aerial refueling.

It is emphasized that long-range aviation crews regularly fly over the neutral waters of the Arctic , North Atlantic , Black and Baltic Seas , and the Pacific Ocean.

As noted in the Ministry of Defense, all flights of the Aerospace Forces aircraft are carried out in strict accordance with international rules for the use of airspace.
