Eight-year-old Sama Tabil was displaced along with her family after an Israeli strike hit their tent camp in the southern city of Rafah.

Since then, the stress has caused most of her hair to fall out, a condition doctors have been unable to treat due to a lack of medicine.

• “My hair used to be beautiful and long,” Sama told Al Jazeera.
• “I loved brushing it every day, especially before going to school … I hope it grows back before my birthday.”
