A Syrian boy filmed himself as he was stuck under the rubble after the earthquake which struck Turkey and Syria on Monday.

“I don’t know if I’ll die or stay alive,” the boy says in the video which circulated online on Wednesday. “I don’t know how to describe the feeling of someone who’s been through this under the rubble.”

“As you can see, this under the rubble,” he adds as sounds of rubble falling can be heard.

“There are more than two, three or four families and our neighbors. May God help us. I can’t describe it. I’m shaking.”

On Tuesday, officials from the World Health Organization warned that the death toll in Syria and Turkey following Monday’s devastating earthquake could top 20,000.

More than 240 aftershocks were recorded after the initial quake, including one rated at 7.5 on the Richter scale.

As of Wednesday, the death toll in both countries topped 12,000.

Israeli forces continue to assist in the search and rescue efforts in Turkey. On Tuesday, IDF troops who flew to Turkey as part of the “Olive Branches” rescue delegation rescued three civilians who were found alive under the rubble of buildings that collapsed.
